The countdown is almost over, tomorrow night at 6 p.m. the Ragin' Cajuns take on Southern University at Cajun Field in their season opener.
It's a new season with high expectations from fans, who are all gearing up for game time.
"We enjoy the games, and football season is life," said UL Fan Blake Chachere, who even suits up for every UL football game. Underneath his helmet, he wears a red wig. However, it's his self-created UL mower that creates excitement at games.
"Me and my dad fabricated a side car out of beer keg, old bike handle bars, some pom poms, a boat seat, and an old trash can cart we converted to a trailer. That's our UL ultimate Ragin' Cajun fan mobile, I guess you can call it," Chachere said, who's had permits for the last four years to ride his mower around Cajun Field.
"You know, we get those looks today. You get good, and you get people who are like, 'Why are you doing this?' But we do it because we enjoy it, and people seem to enjoy it, and they seem to get pumped up about football and about us. So we try to promote the university and anything we can," Chachere said.
Chachere is an alum and a UL fan to the fullest, even having a entire room dedicated to UL football.
"I got all my posters in my lockers. I got a mini fridge, and all my stuff in here, and hopefully I can add to the trophy room, and hopefully add more stuff."
When it comes to the Ragin' Cajuns and UL football, it all comes down to two words.
"Geaux Cajuns," Chachere exclaimed.
