UL Fans Pack Cajunfield for Homecoming

One of the most exciting times at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette is homecoming.

More than 35-thousand fans packing into the swamp fired up for Saturday's game. Ragin' Cajun spirit fills the air as thousands of people keep the University's homecoming traditions alive.

Saturday morning started with a homecoming parade. This year's theme is Best Week Ever! Based on reality television shows. Campus organizations decorated their floats adding Ragin' Cajun flare to their designs.

"The floats, the beads, the candy! It's just nice," said Cajuns fan Kayllie James.

After the parade, fans began tailgating early. Many were cooking, dancing and waiting for Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns to arrive.

"They're not just players, they're part of the fans, the experience and everybody has fun waiting for them and high-fiveing them," said Kamal Boichalli.

Coach Mark Hundspeth says, "Just exciting to see this crowd! It's an unbelievable atmosphere and there isn't a better college football atmosphere in the country. People need to come see it and they'll agree. So fired up about it!"

Cajun fans are remaining optimistic about the rest of the season after coming back against New Mexico State. They say they're holding onto the rope all the way to the next bowl game.

"They knocked off Arkansas State and Western Kentucky. I don't want to say it'll be an easy road, take it one game at a time like Coach Hud would say, but it should be easier," said Andrew Clements.
