The University of Louisiana at Lafayette is reviving a tradition during its Fall Commencement ceremonies on Saturday, Dec. 18 at the Cajundome. The university will hold a General Commencement Ceremony at 9 a.m. All graduates will be in procession during this ceremony. Dr. Cindy Courville, former U.S. Ambassador to the African Union, will be the guest speaker for the assembly. She earned a bachelor's and a master's degrees in political science at UL Lafayette and also earned a master's and Ph.D. from the University of Denver's Graduate School of International Studies in comparative politics and international relations. She will also be receiving an honorary doctorate during this ceremony. Ph.D.s will be conferred during the general assembly and the university's top undergraduates will also be recognized. Following the assembly, each of the university's academic colleges will hold separate ceremonies. Master's degrees will be awarded during these ceremonies.
