The UL Lafayette Alumni Association is fortunate to honor the Frank Mosing Family as the 2013 Spring Gala honorees. The celebration is scheduled for Saturday, April 20th from 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and will be held on the grounds of the Alumni Center. The late Frank and Jessie Mosing and their direct descendants will be honored for their commitment to our community and their support of the University.
At nineteen years of age, Oklahoma native Frank Mosing had a job laying pipe which offered him the chance to travel. He met his future wife, Jessie, in Kansas and the couple married in 1928. They moved to south Louisiana to look for work in the rapidly expanding oil fields. In 1932, Frank Mosing was hired to work on a casing crew in Raceland, LA. He worked with the company for five years before moving on to create his own business. In 1938, Frank Mosing and his wife established Frank's Casing Crew with two thousand dollars in their savings account as a one-crew casing company operated out of their garage.
Virginia P. Cromwell, Frank Mosing's biographer, writes, "Their lives reflect the determination and strength of those people who developed the dynamic oil and gas industry - an industry many people call America's last frontier." She identifies the cornerstones of Mosing's business model as service and honesty with a reputation for quality and integrity. Along with this solid code of business ethics, Frank Mosing always gave credit to one very important member of his team, his wife, Jessie.
Frank's Casing Crew and Rental Tools and Frank's International are privately owned and operated in a strategic alliance by the direct descendants of Frank Mosing. Frank's International is a separate and independent company. Together, "Frank's Worldwide" employs over 3,500 people with offices in more than 40 countries. The company has become one of the largest employers in Acadiana. Managed and owned by four generations of the Mosings, the third generation is heavily involved in all companies with six of Frank's twelve grandchildren involved from CEO to Managers of several departments throughout the company.
The Spring Gala offers fine food, entertainment and both silent and live auctions that will include a variety of attractive offerings including original artwork, unique gift assortments, travel opportunities and Ragin' Cajuns merchandise. Dr. Michael K. Judice, president-elect of the UL Lafayette Alumni Association, serves as chair of the Spring Gala and Angie Doyle serves as Spring Gala auction chair.
Tickets are $200 per couple or $100 per individual. Sponsor tables may be purchased for $5,000 and Patron tables are available for $2,000. Proceeds from the evening are entirely dedicated to maintain and make improvements to the landmark Alumni Center, a building that we are proud to have as a focal point of the university.
