BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - U.S. Sen. David Vitter reports having
nearly $5.4 million in his campaign coffers in advance of this
month's primary election, twice as much as his main challenger
Melancon reported having $2.2 million on hand in the latest
round of finance reports Monday that detail activity from July 1 to
Vitter, a Republican who is seeking a second term in office,
raised more than $507,000 in the most recent fundraising period.
