MAURICE | Two years after an explosion wrecked its New Iberia facility, a new Multi-Chem blend plant opened today in Maurice.
The new facility is located on 64 acres, about half of which is green space, and includes offices, the blend plant and a field laboratory.
The explosion at Multi-Chem's New Iberia facility on June 14, 2011 forced the evacuation two-day evacuation of a one-mile radius around the facility's W. Admiral Doyle location. More than 60 residences and businesses were shuttered during that time.
Multi-Chem is the fourth-largest provider of production chemicals in North America, delivering specialty chemicals, services and solutions that help oil and gas companies develop their resources.
Halliburton employs approximately 3,500 people who live and work in Louisiana.
The company has 47 facilities in the state.
