Just after 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 10, Lafayette police responded to a shooting in the 800 block of South Sterling Street. When officers arrived on the scene they discovered two teenaged victims. One of the victims was shot in the calf and the other victim was struck in the ankle. They were transported to a local hospital for medical attention.
Lafayette police say the two victims were visiting an acquaintance in the area when two suspects allegedly arrived and caused a disturbance between the 4 males. During the altercation one of the suspects produced a handgun and fired multiple times in the direction of the victims.
Reports state the two unknown suspects fled the area prior to officers arriving on the scene.
Lafayette detectives are encouraging anyone with information about the shooting to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
