Two Suspects Sought in Overnight Robbery at Target

Police are asking for assistance from the public in solving a robbery that happened at Target Monday night.

According to Corporal Paul Mouton, at 9:50 p.m., Lafayette Police responded to the 3200 block of Louisiana Avenue regarding two suspects with pillow cases over their heads robbing the store. The suspects allegedly approached the registers and the employees ran for safety. The suspects grabbed an undisclosed amount of money and fled out of the store. The suspects were observed entering an older model pickup truck, according to police.

At approximately 10:00 p.m., Lafayette Police responded to a vehicle fire in the 1500 block of East Pont De Mouton Road, said Cpl. Mouton. The vehicle was a 1999 Chevrolet pickup truck that was reported stolen in the 300 block of Lafayette Street at 3:00 pm Monday. The vehicle is believed to be the truck used by the suspects in the robbery, according to police.

Lafayette Police released photos of the suspects that were captured on surveillance video inside of the store. Detectives are encouraging anyone with information about the robbery or the identity of the suspects to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
