Two Opelousas city employees accused of theft have been fired. The Opelousas Board of Aldermen fired Terrell Griffin and Leonard Hammond. Griffin is accused of using a city vehicle to steal a generator, while Hammond is accused of stealing money collected from scrap metal sales. Both had been fired by the city previously, but both were reinstated by the Opelousas Municipal Civil Service Board. The civil service board found the city's board of aldermen improperly fired Hammond, while Griffin was rehired on the condition he pay back nearly $43 dollars in he charged to a city gas card to fill up his personal car.
