Authorities in Vermilion Parish arrested seven people accused of either making methamphetamine or buying products to make the drug. The Vermilion Municipal Narcotics Task Force, armed with a search warrant, found two meth labs at 2711 Charity St, Sheriff Mike Couvillon said. Agents started surveillance after receiving information of a suspected meth lab operating inside the home. "Through surveillance, and other investigative tools, agents were able to determine that several suspects were traveling to local establishments and purchasing the precursors to make the crystal methamphetamine," Couvillon said.
Agents found products, such as alkaline batteries, red devil lye, Sudafed and other everyday household chemicals. According to the sheriff, "Several smaller baggies with suspected meth residue were found within the residence to suggested packaging and selling of the product was taking place." The Louisiana State Police Hazardous Material and Explosives Control Unit assisted the task force and disposed of the waste. "All other evidence, along with guns and suspected drug proceed monies was seized for prosecution in the case," Couvillon said.
Arrested and charged were:
Andre Landry, 20, of 2711 Charity St. In Abbeville is charged with Manufacturing of a Clandestine Lab, Possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance.
Kalen Allen, 24, of 609 N. Lahasky in Erath is charged with principal to manufacturing of a Clandestine Lab.
Lewis Tabb, 18, of 318 Gallet Rd. In Youngsville is charged with principal to manufacturing of a Clandestine Lab.
Andrew Primeaux, 19, of 2319 Concord Rd. In Erath is charged with principal to manufacturing of a clandestine Lab
Jade Richard, 26, of 506 E. Pearl St. In Erath is charged with principal to manufacturing of a clandestine lab.
Jaret Miques, 22, of 100 McDonald St. Apt C27 Lafayette is charged with principal to manufacturing of a clandestine lab.
Than Tran, 21, of 2711 Charity St. In Abbeville is charged with manufacturing of a clandestine lab, and possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance
