Two men wanted for 1st Degree Murder in North Carolina have been arrested by the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office.
It happened around 12:30 this afternoon, when Willie Dean and Xavier Freeman were pulled over by the Sheriff's office for a traffic stop. Deputies noticed that both suspects are Wanted by the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office in North Carolina for 1st Degree Murder and Armed Robbery Charges. The charges stem from a incident on June 18th; the suspects then fled to Louisiana.
The US Marshals from North Carolina contacted Lafayette emergency officials Friday morning. Investigators in North Carolina discovered surveillance that showed both suspects were traveling in a particular vehicle. That information was passed to the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office; they sent marked units and ultimately conducted a felony stop on the vehicle. Both suspects were arrested without incident.
Dean and Freeman were booked in the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center. Both are awaiting extradition back to North Carolina.
