Summer camps are a time for young athletes to get better at their craft and become closer as a team. This past summer, both the Teurlings Catholic High Cheer and Dance teams and the Catholic High of New Iberia Cheer squad were faced with the task of raising money for St. Jude Children's Hospital.
For these teams, giving back paid off in a big way. Out of the hundreds of thousands of cheerleaders and dancers that attend Universal Cheerleading Association (UCA) and Universal Dance Association (UDA) summer camps, their teams finished in the top ten nationally. They were rewarded with four all expense paid trips to visit the Children's Hospital and Target House in Memphis, TN, and were given the opportunity to perform for the patients.
In 2013, cheerleaders and dancers raised $1.5 million dollars for St. Jude Children's Hospital though Varsity Brands.
