Two Jeff Davis Parish School Board employees are suspended with pay pending the results of an investigation into claims of inappropriate behavior with students over the summer break.
According to Jeff Davis Parish School System Superintendent Brian LeJeune, the two employees are on leave with pay while the Jeff Davis Sheriff's Office investigates parent complaints stemming from incidents that occurred away from school.
"We are waiting to hear from the Jeff Davis Sheriff's Office what charges may be filed, if any," LeJeune said. "Once they have completed their investigation, we will take the appropriate action based on their findings."
Jeff Davis Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division Commander Chris Ivey said the school board contacted the Sheriff's Office to investigate parent complaints about behavior between employees and students from Fenton Elementary and other schools.
"There is an investigation ongoing regarding allegations of inappropriate conduct by school board employees," said Ivey with the Jeff Davis Sheriff's Office. "We've got some more interviews to do, but we hope to be finished with it this week. At that time, we will send the results of the investigation to the District Attorney's Office, where they will present it to a grand jury to determine if any charges should be filed."
Neither Ivey nor LeJeune would specify the nature of the complaints at this time.
