Two Iota residents were arrested for an alleged theft North of Jennings.
Authorities say on September 9, 2012, Jefferson Davis Parish patrol responded to a complaint of a several welding items missing from a Grand Marais Road property.
On Monday, September 10, 2012, Detectives from Jefferson Davis and Acadia Parish working together on the burglary identified two suspects. According to authorities, Edward and Tonya Cormier were arrested by Acadia S.O. and charged with alleged Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle in Acadia Parish and booked in to the Acadia Parish Jail.
On Tuesday, arrest warrants were issued for Edward Cormier, 41, of St. Jules Road, Iota and Tonya Cormier, 45, of St. Jules Road, Iota. Detectives investigating the crimes obtained information about the Grand Marais Rd. burglary, as well as other burglaries in Acadia and Vermillion Parishes. Edward Cormier is currently being held in the Acadia Parish Jail on bond and has a hold for Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff's Office. Tonya Cormier was booked into the Jefferson Davis Parish Jail. No bond is listed at this time. The investigation is continuing and additional arrests are expected.
