Two Iberia Teens in Critical Condition Following Crash

Today, Louisiana State Police Troop I investigated a single vehicle crash on US 90 near Morsei Road that left two juveniles in critical condition.
According to investigating troopers, on December 24, 2010, at 11:25 a.m., a 1999 Ford Expedition was traveling west on US 90. The vehicle, driven by 65-year-old Leila Washington of Jeanerette, LA, had a tire failure. The vehicle drove into the median and began to overturn. Washington and the five passengers in the vehicle were all unrestrained and ejected from the vehicle.
Washington and a 15-year-old passenger sustained moderate injuries and were taken to a local hospital. A 16-year-old passenger and 17-year-old Anthony Jordan of Jeanerette, LA, sustained minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital. An 8-year-old passenger and an additional 16-year-old passenger were critically injured in the crash they were also taken to a local hospital.
Toxicology samples were obtained and are pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. This crash remains under investigation.
