Two Deputies Killed in St. John the Baptist Parish

Two St. John the Baptist Parish sheriff's deputies have been shot to death, and at least two others were wounded in an early morning shootout Thursday near LaPlace, west of New Orleans.
Sheriff's department spokesman Capt. Dane Clement confirmed the deaths of the two deputies to reporters.
State police said a search for the suspects is under way. The shooting occurred around 5:30 a.m. in a parking lot used by workers in an area of manufacturing plants and refineries along the Mississippi River.
