Two Children Found and Parents Arrested in Home Meth Lab Bust

On November 10, 2010 at approximately 04:15 p.m. narcotics agents with the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office acted on a tip received on a methamphetamine lab at 3606 L. Theriot Road Lot 2 in Iberia Parish. Once inside the residence agents located a working methamphetamine lab along with three adults and two children. Two agents were exposed to toxic fumes from the lab and had to be decontaminated by Rynella Fire Department and Fire District One who also responded to the incident. The two agents were then transported to a local hospital for further treatment. The two children, ages 10 and 8, were decontaminated and transported to a local hospital as a precaution also.
Agents arrested the three adults who are as follows:
Ashley Edwards DOB 03/05/1982 of 3606 L. Theriot Road lot 2, New Iberia was charged with Possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, operation of a clandestine lab, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a juvenile, improper supervision of a juvenile, child desertion and conspiracy.

Sammy Ethridge DOB 11/21/1959 of 3606 L. Theriot Road Lot 2, New Iberia was charged with Possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, operation of a clandestine lab, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a juvenile and conspiracy.

Robert Battles Jr. DOB 01/14/1981 of 619 Breaux Road, Lafayette was charged with Possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, operation of a clandestine lab, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a juvenile and conspiracy.

The three suspects were transported and booked into the Iberia Parish Jail.

This is the second methamphetamine lab located and destroyed by narcotics agents within in twenty four hours. The Louisiana State Police Haz-Mat Division arrived on scene and assisted the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office Haz-Mat Division with the removal of the methamphetamine lab. Residence were evacuated from the surrounding area until authorities determined it was safe to return.
