An everyday traffic stop for Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff Patrol deputies turned into two arrests for various narcotics and weapons, with more counts added when even more items were found during booking.
According to a press release, deputies observed a vehicle Wednesday morning parked in a business parking lot on East Plaquemine street pull out onto the roadway and then make a illegal u-turn while on Louise Street. The vehicle was stopped and the driver, Nicholas Anderson approached.
Deputies could smell the odor of burnt marijuana.
Deputies obtained written consent to search the vehicle and discovered synthetic marijuana, oxycodone, drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.
Anderson, 21, of Baldwin, and passenger Tamisha James, 19, of Lake Charles, were arrested for possession of CDS I and II, possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal carrying of weapons in presence of CDS, and illegal u-turn.
During booking procedures, James was found to have hidden in her undergarments a .22 caliber pistol and drug scale. Both were booked into the Jefferson Davis Parish Jail.
