Two St. Landry Parish men are behind bars for allegedly burglarizing a Port Barre home. Police say Kenneth Bretchel and Roger Burleson, Jr., were hired by Bretchel's cousin to rake leaves in her yard. Investigators say while the cousin was away, they broke into the home and stole jewelry, kitchenware, an iPhone, and prescription medication during the burglary. Police add the victim contacted Bretchel, who then put the items in a bag and tossed it onto her driveway while driving by the home.

Both Bretchel and Burleson are charged with home burglary. They are being held in the Port Barre Jail on $7,500 bond.
