On March 30, 2010, at approximately 6:45 pm, officers with the Lafayette Police Department responded to the 300 block of Azelie Street regarding a home invasion. The victim advised that she and her children were inside the bedroom at the residence when a loud noise was heard from the area of a side door. When the victim investigated the noise she discovered two suspects inside of her residence. The suspects informed the victim that her vehicle had a broken window, at which time the victim and the suspects walked outside to observe the car. Once outside, the suspects fled on foot towards the rear of the house and climbed over a fence. It was discovered that the door on the residence was forced open, damaging the door frame.
Witnesses informed investigating officers that the suspects possibly fled in a blue four door vehicle. The investigation lead officers to the 100 block of Refinery Street were both suspects were located and taken into custody. Christopher Harrison (21) of Lafayette and Paul Benjamin (25) of Lafayette were both arrested and charged with Home Invasion. Harrison and Benjamin were booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center. Neither the victim, nor her children were injured during the incident.
