Two arrested in connection with alleged "crime rash"

Two Crowley men are behind bars in connection with what that city's police chief calls a "rash of criminal activity."

According to Chief K. P. Gibson, 21-year-old Kevin Wilson and 17-year-old Gregory Winbush were arrested on Christmas Eve after officer received a report of a stolen car from Lafayette.

Officers found the car in the 1200 block of Lurose Drive just before 5 a.m. and set up a perimeter in the area. According to Gibson, Wilson and Winbush attempted to flee the home where the car was parked, but they ran back inside when they saw officers outside.

Gibson says the two were later found in the home's attic and arrested.

Police say they found another stolen car and other stolen items at the home.

Wilson is charged with theft of a motor vehicle and unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling. In addition, Wilson was booked on a number of outstanding warrants, including armed robbery.

Winbush is charged with unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling and multiple counts of illegal possession of stolen property.

A third suspect, 18-year-old Allegra Wilson, was arrested and charged with obstruction of justice for allegedly concealing information about the case.
