Two-alarm fire causes heavy damage to cabinet business

Around 8:46 Friday night, Lafayette firefighters responded to a call in the 1500 block of Verot School Road. There was a report of smoke coming from the rear of a commercial building.

When firefighters and emergency crews entered Brian Hebert Woodworks, they discovered an interior section of the building on fire as well.

Thirty firefighters battled the two-alarm fire for approximately 30 minutes before getting it under control. The woodworking shop sustained heavy fire damage to part of the building. There are no injuries to report; the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
