Two New Iberia men living in the same apartment complex are accused of trying to burglarize a business.
Early Friday morning, deputies responded a burglary in progress at a business located in the 1200 block of Trotter St. in New Iberia. They say they found 27-year-old Dane Romero near the business and in possession of burglary tools. Romero allegedly fled the scene and was apprehended by deputies following a short foot pursuit.
Deputies say after further investigation, they discovered lawn equipment had been removed from a locked-utility trailer parked on the premises. An investigation resulted in the arrest of a second suspect, 38-year-old Marcus Rankin. Rankin was arrested without incident at his residence.
Romero was booked into the Iberia Parish Jail for the charges of Simple Burglary and Resisting an Officer.

Detectives are continuing their investigation.
No bond set at this time.
