NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Tulane University political science professor Melissa Harris-Perry's frequent appearances on MSNBC have paid off.
The cable news network said Thursday that she is joining the team and will host her own talk show every Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., beginning Feb. 4.
Harris-Perry, an author and frequent guest of "PoliticsNation" with Rev. Al Sharpton and occasional guest host of "The Rachel Maddow Show" and "The Last Word," has earned rave reviews. MSNBC President Phil Griffin, in a news release, said Harris-Perry's "thoughtful analysis has been an incredible addition to our primetime programs and I'm thrilled to have her join our expanded weekend line-up."
