Tulane Golfers Ranked No. 24 in Latest Golfweek.com Top-25

New Orleans - The Tulane golf team continues to reap the rewards of its fourth-place finish last week at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Golf Championship and has re-entered the nation's Top-25 polls at No. 24 in the latest Golfweek.com rankings, while four Green Wave are ranked among Top-125 golfers in the country according to the same poll.

Tulane has played in six tournaments this season and produced top-5 finishes in four events, including a pair of runner-up finishes, and has a combined 73.20 scoring average. The Green Wave is the highest ranked team among Conference USA squads and among Louisiana schools.

Last week in its home tournament, Tulane finish above of eight teams ranked ahead of it, including top-10 squads No. 3 Florida and No. 4 Alabama. The Wave finished behind top-ranked USC, No. 2 Duke and No. 25 UCLA.

"This is a solid ranking for us, but there is still a lot of golf to be played this season," Tulane head coach Andrew Pratt said. "We're just focused on getting better every day and learning from our mistakes as a team and individually so we can use that for a post-season push (NCAA's). I look for this team to keep working extremely hard and focusing only on what we can control."

Individually, freshman Emily Penttila comes in this week ranked as the 49th-best collegiate golfer in the country with a 72.32 spring scoring average and three straight top-10 finishes. Last week, she was named the C-USA Golfer of the Week after her fourth place finish in Tulane's home tournament.

Senior Maribel Lopez Porras comes in at No. 58 with a 72.59 spring average and has one tournament title this season. Sophomore Gemma Dryburgh is ranked 95th with a 73.27 average for the spring and also has an individual title on the year, while freshman Madison Opfer is ranked No. 123 with a 73.64 average this spring.

Tulane returns to action when it makes the short trip to the University Club in Baton Rouge to participate in the 2013 LSU Tiger Golf Classic, March 22-24.
