BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Witnesses say a pickup truck was driving erratically Friday night before it plunged off an elevated portion on Interstate 10 in Baton Rouge.
A man driving the truck, whose name hasn't been released, died after the truck landed upside down. A woman and a child were hospitalized.
Houston resident Angela Jones tells WAFB-TV that she was riding in a car that the truck sideswiped. She says the truck was driving fast on the eastbound shoulder, sideswiped a second car, and then went over the side of the interstate. It landed in a parking lot between two restaurants on Perkins Road.
WBRZ-TV reported rescue crews spent as many as two hours working to pull the survivors and dead driver from the wreckage.
