Truck hit by railway equipment in Scott

Scott police say a motorist was injured today when a piece of railroad equipment slammed into his truck.

The incident took place around 11 a.m. near the corner of Cameron Street and Apollo Road.

Chief Chad Leger of the Scott Police Department says the BNSF Railway was sending the equipment down the tracks. However, Leger says the equipment did not activate the arms preventing traffic from crossing.

The equipment struck the truck as the truck was making its way across the tracks.

The driver of the truck suffered minor injures. The operator of the BNSF equipment was not hurt.

The scene has been cleared, and the intersection is once again open.
