NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Federal prosecutors say a driver hired to transport mail admitted to stealing parcels from the post office in Gray.
The Courier reports 49-year-old Joel Raymond Polaski, of Thibodaux, faces up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 after pleading guilty Wednesday to possession of stolen mail in federal court in New Orleans.
Prosecutors say Polaski was a highway contract route driver employed by Advantage Equipment LLC, a company contracted by the U.S. Postal Service to transport mail.
U.S. District Judge Helen Berrigan scheduled sentencing for Aug. 28.
