BROUSSARD, La. (AP) - Louisiana State Police have arrested three people and seized 34 pounds of marijuana and 387 grams of a synthetic form of the drug.
Troopers stopped a pickup truck for a traffic violation in Broussard on Tuesday. A search of the vehicle turned up the drugs.
Troopers placed the driver, 21-year-old Justin Keahey, and his two passengers, 21-year-old Travis Lapeyrouse, of Lake Charles, and a 15-year-old juvenile, under arrest for possession with the intent to distribute marijuana and possession of synthetic marijuana.
Keahey and Lapeyrouse were booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center. The teenager was booked into the parish's juvenile detention center.
Authorities say the seized marijuana has a street value of over $40,000 and the synthetic marijuana's value was more than $7,000.
