Troopers Arrest Suspect in Port Barre Hit and Run

Today, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop I received information from the Port Barre Police Department about a vehicle suspected to have been involved in the fatal hit-and-run crash Troopers investigated last night on LA Highway 742 near St. Peter Avenue.

The information gathered led Troopers to a residence in the 16600 block of US Highway 190 in Port Barre. Troopers were able to locate the vehicle, a 2008 GMC Sierra, and found evidence which linked it to the crime scene. Troopers were able to identify 30-year-old Corey Doucet of Port Barre as the driver of the vehicle. Based on the information and evidence Troopers obtained, Doucet was placed under arrest for felony hit-and-run, negligent homicide and obstruction of justice. Doucet was booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail without incident.

This crash remains under investigation.
