A Lake Charles man is in custody today on both DUI and drug charges.
Early Monday at approximately 6:30 a.m., a trooper from Louisiana State Police Troop D attempted to execute a traffic stop on a black Cadillac Escalade on speeding eastbound on Interstate 10 Calcasieu River Bridge, but the driver exited the interstate and refused to stop.
The driver continued traveling through Lake Charles city streets until he reached a residence on S. Shattuck St. The driver, 30-year-old Nathaniel P. Francisco of Lake Charles, stopped at the residence and was taken into custody without further incident.
Troopers discovered Francisco had an active arrest warrant for 6 counts of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute a Schedule II narcotic (cocaine). Francisco's arrest warrant is associated with the "Operation 27" multi-agency narcotics investigation earlier this year.
In addition to the warrant, Francisco was charged with DWI 1st offense, flight from an officer, speeding (71 miles per hour in a 50 mile per hour zone), driving under suspension, and an expired license plate. Francisco was booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center. Bond has not yet been set.
