BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A Louisiana State trooper was injured when he was rear-ended by a drunk driver on Interstate 10 in West Baton Rouge Parish.
State police say Trooper Joseph Nations was treated at a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries and released.
The accident happened about 1 a.m. Monday. Authorities say Nations and another trooper were helping a "striping detail" on I-10 when 48-year-old Joseph Harris hit the rear of Nation's marked vehicle, crushing it.
State police say Harris tried to flee the scene, but troopers arrested him on charges of driving while intoxicated, vehicular negligent injuring, reckless operation and resisting arrest. A breath sample later showed he had nearly three times the legal
limit of alcohol in his system.
