Military personnel and veterans with Tricare insurance plans will soon be receiving their services fully electronically.
The Department of Defense announced today that it is ending walk-in service at all of their Tricare service centers in the United States by April 1. According to the Department of Defense, services that were previously provided in person at these service centers will be available online and via telephone.
Overseas Tricare service centers will remain open for service personnel stationed abroad.
The closures are expected to save the federal government an estimated $250 million over the next five years.
Louisiana has three service centers--one in New Orleans, one in Belle Chasse, and one at Fort Polk.
