LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - A judge says prosecutors can use photos taken from cameras and CDs found in the truck belonging to a Lake Charles gynecologist accused of video voyeurism.
Judge David Ritchie approved Dr. Peter LaFuria's request to move his trial outside Calcasieu Parish, but denied one to suppress evidence. Possible locations for the trial will be discussed Jan. 25.
LaFuria is charged with 186 counts of video voyeurism, 78 counts of sexual battery and five counts of molestation of a juvenile. He allegedly took photos of patients' genitals without their knowledge.
Defense attorney Glen Vamvoras says he will appeal the evidence ruling.
Police had a warrant to search LaFuria's medical practice and vehicles on the premises, but the truck was searched outside his house.
