Tree crashes on Jeanerette home

Herman Diggs had a bit of a scare Wednesday evening when thunderstorms were passing over his home on Cypress Ln. in Jeanerette.
"I heard that tree coming down," Diggs said.
Before he could look outside, a large tree cracked and slammed into his home, crunching the ceiling where he and his grandchildren were watching TV.
"I grabbed them and ran toward the front," Diggs said. "A little bit more and the whole room probably would've caved in."
The storm passed, leaving some street flooding in Jeanerette but Diggs has a little more to deal with; about 1/4 of his home is now crushed under a tree.
Luckily, no one was injured when the tree came down.
