Travis returned to Acadiana after graduating from Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York in May 2008 with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. While in Syracuse, Travis was a play-by-play voice and sports reporter for WAER, covering SU's football, basketball and lacrosse teams. He also gained experience by interning at WTVH in Syracuse.
Travis is a Crowley native and former KATC intern. He played football at Notre Dame all four years of high school where he was a center.
Travis has had the pleasure of covering many big sporting events in Acadiana: UL's 2011 New Orleans Bowl appearance, LSU's 2012 BCS National Championship game in New Orleans, covering his Pioneer's 2009 State Championship (of course), the Saints' Super Bowl in Miami, covering LSU's Cotton Bowl win vs. Texas A&M, UL Softball's Regional Title in Lafayette and Baton Rouge, and following the Cajuns to both the baseball and basketball Sun Belt Conference Tournaments.
The Associated Press has awarded Travis with Best Sportscast (1st- 2010 and 2011) and Best Sports Story (2nd-2009). His biggest honor was being awarded the 2011 Media of the Year for LCG President's Awareness Committee for Citizens with Disabilities.
When Travis is not on the field covering the action, you can find him scoping out Acadiana restaurants, cheering on his beloved Orange (Go 'Cuse!) and trying to garden (He's getting there).
