Plans for a training facility for the Mandeville Police Department and its reserve officers have been unveiled before the city council.
Officials say the new structure would be built at no cost to the public by the Greater Mandeville Police Foundation.
Shelby LaSalle, an architect, says on Thursday the facility will be built adjacent to the city police headquarters and will include training rooms and office space.
Police Chief Rick Richard says his department is one of the few of its size in the region that does not have a training facility. Mandeville officers have to go to other jurisdictions for training.
LaSalle says it will cost about $100,000 to build a foundation and a shell of the metal building.
