Stricter rules will be in affect this year for Mardi Gras runners in Eunice.
Almost a year ago Hannah Landreneau died participating in the run.
She fell when attempting to cross from the back of a pickup truck onto a trailer.
"It's soon to be her anniversary of her death, and it's still hard," says Rita Fontenot.
Fotenot was Landreneau's former sunday school teacher and friend, she says she welcomes the new changes.
The main change, each truck has to have at least two people constantly on the look out for accidents.
"No one will be allowed behind the pickup but two spotters thats the only people that will be allowed behind the truck to watch for accidents fixing to happen to avoid an accident," says Eunice Mardi Gras President Pat Frey.
Those spotters can't have any alcohol, they must always be on alert.
To cut down on underage drinking, you'll have to have a wristband to get alcohol.
No horse drawn vehicles, four wheelers, or bicycles are allowed in the run.
All trailers must have a 3 ft barrier to prevent people from falling off.
Any non-compliance, you will be asked to leave by the authorities.
