Tools for Schools Drive is Well Underway

Many Acadiana children could use your help getting basic school supplies.

With school just weeks away parents are gearing up and hitting the ground running looking for the best deals to make sure their child has the right tools for school.

"It's a pretty long list and I only have Ethan and one on the way. I can't imagine anyone that has more than one because it is a lot," said Shelley Broussard.

With more than eighteen items on one school supply list for a third grader, not counting multiple of the same item needing to be purchased, parents say it really adds up when shopping for supplies.

"Very expensive, especially with four children."

Krista Trahan's children are in grades pre-k through 5th and she tries to strategize before shopping.

"Whichever are the cheapest is the way I'll go."

You can do that too when shopping for the KATC Tools for Schools Drive. Picking up just one extra item can help a child, and doesn't have to be expensive.

"Some of the things are pretty cheap, the notebooks are only 17 cents," said Broussard.

"School is everything for children. Putting children into school is a great thing to do."

Remember, what's donated in your parish stays in your parish. Bins are setup at Wal-Mart throughout Acadiana.
