Tom Martin joined KATC-TV3 in May 2013 as a Sports Reporter and Weekend Sports Anchor. A native of Houston, TX, he's very happy to be back in the South, where he can bring up topics like heat, humidity, great food and football with folks who thankfully understand.
Tom comes to Acadiana after spending two years working at KOMU-TV in Columbia, MO. In his spare time, he earned his broadcast journalism degree at the University of Missouri. He also worked as a reporter/anchor for Newsy.com and served as a play-by-play announcer for a local TV channel that garnered no more than six, maybe seven viewers per night.
In addition, starting in high school, Tom worked as an editor within the SB Nation network, spending a total of four years with a company that has evolved into a fierce competitor in the online sports media field. In that time, he covered two NBA Drafts in New York and appeared on local and national radio shows as a guest analyst.
Over time, Tom has managed to play nearly every sport imaginable, including table tennis, badminton and even basketball. He was a varsity captain for his high school lacrosse team, so if you want to throw around sometime, he'll likely take you up on it. Otherwise, you'll probably find him in a basketball gym, on a golf course or in a world of trouble because he locked his keys in his car again, to his disbelief.
