Toddler Hit by Truck at Lafayette Parade; Jennings Man Arrested

Lafayette Police have arrested a Jennings man after a 3 year old girl was hit by a pickup truck while at last night's Krewe of Rio parade. 23 year old Seth Spell (left) is facing charges of attempted murder, aggravated flight, OWI, open container, driving under suspension and child endangerment.

Witnesses told KATC's Herbie Smith that Spell hit a barricade, went into reverse and gassed his truck into a crowd, knocking the little girl to the ground.

The 3 year old was transported to a Lafayette hospital with moderate injuries, her condition is not known this morning.

Police say Spell tried to get away from the scene in the 2600 block of Johnston Street, but he was arrested a short distance away on Meaux Boulevard.
