DENHAM SPRINGS, La. (AP) - Livingston Parish sheriff's deputies say a 1-year old girl fell into a plastic goldfish pond and drowned after wandering away from her mother.

Sheriff's office spokesman Perry Rushing says deputies were called to a home just outside of Denham Springs Monday afternoon to investigate a possible drowning.

Rushing says Alivia Blount was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Baton Rouge, where she was pronounced dead.

He said the drowning appeared to be accidental, but was still under investigation.
