Tip leads to five arrests

The Opelousas Police Department responded to a tip that led to the arrest of five suspects allegedly attempting to illegally prescribe, dispense, or possess controlled dangerous substances.

Opelousas Police set up surveillance and observed as the subjects arrived at an area pharmacy. Police say, officers observed three female suspects enter the pharmacy attempting to fill the illegal prescriptions as one of the male suspects waited outside.

According to authorities, a second male suspect parked his vehicle near the rear exit of the pharmacy which was later found to be designated as the vehicle to use when ready to leave the pharmacy.

Officers say they detained the suspects as they were attempting to have the prescriptions filled and then transported them to the Opelousas Police Department.

Investigation in the matter is still pending at this point.

All five suspects arrested are being held in the Opelousas Police Department Jail on $10,000 bond.

Arrested on scene were Shirley Taylor, 35, Odetta Glaude, 38, Roxie Glaude, 40, William Taylor, 41, and Gerald Thomas, 33.
