TICKFAW, La. (AP) - Authorities have arrested a man in Baton Rouge on a count of second-degree murder in the fatal shooting Wednesday of a 29-year-old man in Tickfaw.
Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards tells The Advocate William Brown III was arrested Thursday on a murder warrant in the shooting that occurred during what was supposed to be a drug sale.
Edwards tells The Advocate Brown allegedly shot the victim several times and took the $1,100 the victim was carrying to make a large purchase of marijuana.
He identified the slain man as 29-year-old Travola Brown of Ponchatoula.
Edwards said he doesn't believe the two men are related.
It was unclear whether William Brown has an attorney.
