Zachary Richard and Sonny Landreth will headline the Thursday night of Festival International de Louisiane.
The music icons will be the second of three acts to perform on the main stage, Scène International (Scène Stabil Drill), on April 24. Celtic band Surôit will kick off the events at that stage, while Canadian hip-hop group Radio Radio will perform the night cap at Parc International.
Scène International will also host the festival's opening ceremonies at 7 p.m. that night. The theme of this year's opening ceremony is "A Salute to Congrés Mondial Acadien."
Three other acts will perform that night at Scène Fais Do Do (Scène Lafayette General). Western swing musicians Stop the Clock Cowboy Jazz Band will kick off the music at that stage, located on Jefferson Street across from the old federal building. The Debauche Russian Mafia Band, a Ukrainian/Louisianian Gyspy group, and Latin group La Santa Cecilia will also play at that location during the Thursday festivities.
Festivalgoers may also find themselves watching a concert in the street. The Soul Express Brass Band will play along Jefferson Street near Vermilion Street at various times on Thursday night as part of the festival's street circus.
The night of music ends at the Blue Moon Saloon. Roddie Romero and the Hub City All-Stars will play a free concert at the Convent Street venue at 10 p.m.
Those looking for a cinematic experience at Festival International can head over to Theater 810 at 7 p.m. to watch Shel's Shorts, a co-production of Acting Unlimited, UL, and Festival International. Admission is $10.
