Around 12:30, Thursday morning fire fighters responded to a fire on Sunset Drive in Lafayette, where they discovered a man's body in the kitchen. Lafayette Fire Department Arson Investigators say the fire was intentionally set.

Two vehicles were stolen from the property, one a yellow BMW Roadster and the other a red Ford Mustang. The BMW was found nearby in the 1100 block of Moss Street and the Mustang, in Terrebonne Parish. Police are working with authorities in Terrbonne and hope the recovered vehicles can give some insight into what happened.

Residents in the area say their neighbor usually kept to himself and enjoyed spending time in his garden. The man ran a notary business out of his home, but at this time police do not think that had anything to do with his death.
