State Police are investigating a three vehicle crash on Highway 674 near Blanchard Road which claimed the life of a New Iberia man.
The accident happened around 3:00 this afternoon. Troopers say 33-year-old Shanathan Nora of New Iberia, was driving a 1990 Isuzu truck east on Highway 674 and was exiting a slight right curve. That's when troopers say, a 2011 Nissan passenger car driven by 38-year-old Dodi Anderson of New Iberia was traveling west on LA 674. For reasons still under investigation, Nora crossed the center-line and struck the side of Anderson's car. Nora's vehicle continued to travel and struck the side of a 2013 GMC Sierra driven by 47-year-old Robert Schupp Jr. of New Iberia.
Investigators say, Nora was not restrained and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Iberia Parish Coroner. Anderson and Schupp were restrained, and both sustained minor injuries and were transported to an area hospital.
It is unknown if impairment was a factor in the crash however, routine toxicology samples were obtained from all three drivers and will be submitted to the State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
This crash remains under investigation.
