Three Lafayette Parish schools will receive $50,000 each for developing what the State Education Department calls "innovate programs to increase academic performance for students with disabilities." Westside Elementary, Scott Middle, and Acadiana High Schools partnered to create the IWrite! Project. The program uses research-based instruction along with technology to help students with disabilities improve their writing skills. The ultimate goal is to help improve these students' performance in the classroom and in statewide assessments.
