MARKSVILLE, La. (AP) - Three inmates have escaped from the Avoyelles Parish Jail in Marksville.

Sheriff Doug Anderson said the inmates escaped around 1:40 a.m. Tuesday after forcing a guard at knifepoint to open a door.

Anderson identified the escapees as 22-year-old Quentin M. Truehill of New Orleans, 39-year-old Kentrell F. Johnson of Marksville and 22-year-old Peter Hughes of Abbeville.

He said it appears the three were picked up by an accomplice.

At the time of the escape, Truehill was serving time for manslaughter; Hughes was convicted of unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling and Johnson was serving time for parole violation and armed robbery,

Anderson said the three are to be considered armed and dangerous.
