Acadiana law officials in Iberia, Lafayette, and St. Landry were busy Wednesday trying to solve three gun-related incidents.
The first happened around 7:30 last night in the 600 Block of Myrtis Street in New Iberia. A 51-year-old man is in the hospital this morning after being shot in what officials believe was his driveway. Parish Sheriff's officials tell KATC they have collected evidence and are talking to at least one person.
A 15-year-old Lafayette Parish student is facing charges after police say he brought a gun to school. It happened at the W.D. Career Center. Investigators say the semi-automatic weapon was not loaded. They believe the boy brought the gun just to show it off, thankfully, no one was hurt.
At about 1:30, police were called to the intersection of Kim Drive and Lemoine Street. There they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the shoulder, after an attempted robbery. Warrants are now issued for the arrest of these men. Dionne Lamb is wanted for aggravated battery and attempted armed robbery. Casey Rubin is facing attempted first-degree murder and attempted armed robbery. Rubin was also a suspect in the September shooting of a 10-year-old girl.
Derrick Lastie, the man shot, is also facing drug charges. All these incidents are under investigation and are expected to be solved.
